The new Brady IPTM printers: Beta customer supports the benefits - multiple users with multiple materials - simple as load, click, and print.

Brady IP Thermal Transfer Printer

Brady's new IPTMThermal Transfer Printing System is designed to increase efficiency and save money by making the printing process faster, easier, and more efficient. Using Smart Cell technology, the printer, software, material, and ribbon communicate with each other, so users don't need to spend time on set-up or waste materials with test batches of labels. This helps companies like Panel Control Systems in Minnesota operate more efficiently and cost-effectively, with reduced training time, less materials waste, and more streamlined label production.

The entire IP printer system is designed to integrate the printer, software, and materials for an easy-to-use, complete labeling solution. The Smart Cell Technology, exclusive to Brady, allows the printer to automatically identify the best material and ribbon match for flawless printing, and automatically adjusts for speed, temperature, material size, and layout - even for custom and multi-part labels.

Timothy Mendez, Senior Technician, Quality Control for Panel Control Systems, participated in Beta testing for the new printing system, and found the new technology was a big advantage:

"I like the benefit of the RFID technology in the material. People who are not that familiar with the Brady printers can just walk up and load the material and not have a lot of set-up issues to deal with; they don't need to know the part numbers or know how to set the machine up - it pretty much sets itself up."

The printer's top-loading design allows for easy access to materials, while giving the printer a smaller footprint that saves space in work areas. Intelligent error messaging, automatic label formatting, and a center-justified material feed path with material guides all contribute to making the IP printer system easy to use. This makes it the ideal solution for companies where multiple users must access the system. Little training is needed because the printer is so intuitive. Simply load the materials, click the supply file on screen, enter your data on the template, and hit print.

Mendez has found that the new machine saves a lot of time in production: "With the old machine it takes probably 10 to 15 minutes to change materials. It would involve pulling the label out, pulling the ribbon out, setting it up, running the ribbon through the machine, running the label through the machine, getting it all aligned, opening up the software, and selecting the part. With the new machine, it's about five minutes at the absolute most. It's pretty much load the material, close the lid, open the software, and you're ready to go."

Because the system automatically calibrates the label material for notched, gapped, or continuous labels, users save money on materials - labels are no longer wasted during the calibration process. The system also helps avoid lost production time because it tells the user when to order more material.

This will be a welcome change to many users, according to Joe Ayers, Product Manager at HH Barnum, a distributor of Brady products. "There's no need for calibration on the printer; this is a huge savings to our customers. One of our number one complaints is label waste on calibration. You can tell on this design that Brady definitely had the customer in mind," said Ayers.

The Brady IP printer system is available in the IP300 model, with 300 dpi printing, and the IP600 model, with 600 dpi printing for high-performance printing applications. Brady IP printers work with a variety of Brady specialty materials to give you more cost-effective labeling options. This makes the IP printing system ideal for a variety of industries, including manufacturing, electronics, Government and defense contractors, data communication, laboratory and healthcare, and transportation industries, including aerospace, rail, and mass transit.

The IP printer integrates with a variety of Brady software products, including BradySoftTM Label Design SoftwareBrady LabelMarkTM Labeling Software, and Brady IdentiLabTM Laboratory Labeling Software. Brady IP Enabled or IP Compatible materials and ribbons help users take full advantage of the system's capabilities, with access to hassle-free automatic printing modes for IP Enabled materials, and special software configurability options with IP Compatible materials.
